Water Softener Systems
Water softener systems are a time proven technology to aid in removing hardness from the supply water. This process works by exchanging calcium and magnesium ions dissolved into the supply water with sodium or potassium ions contained within the tank’s exchange media. Using cation exchange media, also known as softener resin, the pressure provided by the booster pump assembly forces water through the resin allowing the chemical exchange to occur, resulting in “softened” water. This process allows the reverse osmosis membranes to function more efficiently and prevents scale, calcium and magnesium build-ups from forming within the reverse osmosis membranes and piping systems leading to the membrane elements.
